Being friends with her is like willingly exposing yourself to
a fatal disease. The traits are alike and the results are always the same.
You see, it starts out as nothing. Everything seems to be
normal on the outside, but soon the disease begins to fester on the inside,
hidden from sight. It goes like this for a while, making its home right inside.
Eventually, small, seemingly insignificant symptoms begin to appear. A quick
fight here, a disagreement there. These small moments serve as a window into
the future, but both parties are quick to dismiss them off as unrelated
incidents. However, as she's come to learn over the years, these first signs are
critical. She knows now how to recognize them, the symptoms. She can
identify them quickly, and as soon as she does, she tries to treat them in the only
way she knows how, warning and distance. However, in an unfortunate happenstance,
the treatment only seems to make things worse. The symptoms begin to increase
in frequency and intensity. The disease that started out in hibernation and
remained unseen for so long begins to move rapidly, encasing every aspect of
the relationship; cutting off the healthy circulation and sucking the bones dry
of their marrow. Before long, the two parties involved are left with no choice
but to abandon the friendship as does an amputee victim sacrifice a limb for
the greater good of the whole. And with that it’s over. In an instant the
disease is killed in all of its malicious forms. For a while, maybe a week,
maybe a month, the second party may feel some residual affects, phantom limb, a
little pain and soreness, but for the most part, they’re looking up. Her on the
other hand? As the disease, she is left for dead, helplessly roaming until she can
latch onto another victim.
While there are some cases in which the friendship has been
salvaged after a few months rest, it's only conceivable that these relationships
have fallen into remission, subject to change at any instant.
Being friends with her is like willingly
exposing yourself to a fatal disease. The traits are alike and the results are always the same.
